In yoga, we recognize that working with challenging postures, especially arm balances & inversions, can not only help build physical strength but also inner strength! By exploring advanced arm balances & inversions on the mat  — we can be better equipped to handle life off the mat - bringing poise and stability into our everyday lives.  

After all, we all fall in life, but having the courage, strength, and determination to get back up is the key!

During this 3-hour workshop we will review specific anatomy and key areas of the body necessary for a strong arm balance and inversion practice. We will move through a Vinyasa practice to warm up, open and awaken the body in a systematic way to prepare the body for a variety of intermediate and advanced arm balances and inversions.  

This will be a fun, lighthearted, and educational workshop where various postures, a focus on preparatory strength, alignment, and modifications will be explored to help you expand your arm balance and inversion practice even beyond this workshop.  

Look forward to a strong, yet playful workshop while feeling the power of balancing, inverting, and choosing to see the world from a new perspective – one filled with focus, lightness and fun!

Various levels of inversions will be explored allowing you to practice the many stages of arm balances and inversions that feel best for your practice. Postures may include: 

Inversions: 

  • Sirsasana (headstand variations) 

  • Pincha Mayurasana (forearm stand) 

  • Adho Mukha Vrksasana (handstand) 

  • Sarvangasana (shoulderstand)

Arm Balances: 

  • Bakasana variations (crow pose) 

  • Parsva Bakasana (side crow) 

  • Eka Pada Koundinyasana (flying splits) 

  • Eka Pada Galavasana (flying pigeon)

About Katie Nesbitt

Katie Nesbitt grew up as a competitive athlete and gained a Sports Psychology degree from the states.  With this knowledge, she learned early on the importance of a strong mind-body connection and began teaching yoga in 2012 while also managing Corporate Wellness Programs for Fortune 10 and Fortune 100 companies in Los Angeles, CA.  Eventually, she left the corporate world, moved to Bali and dove fully into her passion of guiding others to optimal well-being through yoga, mindfulness, breathwork, and more.  

As a 500RYT Yoga Instructor & Breathwork Facilitator, she supports students to connect more deeply within themselves on the mat (in order to connect more authentically in life off the mat) through Vinyasa Yoga, Yin and Breathwork classes.  Katie guides students through grounded, creative and effective classes suitable for beginner or experienced yogis.  Her intelligent sequencing, playful spirit, and compassionate nature will lead you to more strength and expansion in your body, mind, heart, and soul.  

Katie is also a lead Somatic Therapist for a Trauma Recovery Program supporting international clients with a history of complex trauma. She also leads yoga teacher trainings and international retreats to help participants tap into their true nature and love of life through yoga, meditation, travel, and so much more.
